PC girlfriend card challenge

Good Morning everyone!  Last night I submitted (under the wire) a card for the girlfriend challenge being held by Paper Crafts (www.papercraftsconnection.com).

I made this for one of best-est friends Erika.  I left the VA about a year ago (where I meet Erika in 2008) and since then we have gotten together but not as much as we would like to.  So if we miss each other too much or one of us sticks up for the other on facebook we post on the other one's wall this phrase (another co-worker actually coined the phrase but it's too fun not to use - thx Joy!  :P).

I used K & Co. paper, the alphas are from Provo Craft and right now I can't remember the stamp company so I'll come back and edit this tomorrow.  Enjoy!
**the stamp I used was called Opening Night by stampsmith**

Doodlebug design team tryouts - home decor

Ok I have to be honest even though I've been a scrapbooker for a long time doing these four projects were my absolute favorite!  I ended up submitting # 3.  It was quite a toss up between the tray and the birdhouse but I was trying to be different and show that even distressed doodlebug is still really cute!

Decor 1 - halloween wreath

Using spooky town I wrapped a small straw wreath with basic black wide ribbon.  Then I cut 1 inch wide strips of the beetle black petit prints paper.  I wrapped that around and used very short hem pins to secure the paper to the wreath.  I'm sure a glue gun would work just fine too.  Then I cut strips of black magic paper to make the bow.  Add some sugar coated stickers and ta-da a super cute wreath.  I'm thinking about making another for the other door that leads into my dining room.  Love it! :)

Decor 2 - birdhouse
I made this for my little Zoe's room but it turned out so well I thought I would post it.  I used the Ladybug Garden line.  I purchased a small birdhouse from my local craft store.  I used paint from left over paint samples I got while trying to figure out what colors my walls should be and LOTS of measurements.  To get the ladybug to sit in the little birdy house I used fishing wire and pop dots.

Decor 3 - Bon Apetit Nonna tray
I didn't want to use my Nonna's original cookie reciepe so I make a photo copy of it and had a blast making it.  I took Doodlebug's Bon Apetit line and distressed the whole thing.  The tray is 7 gypses and used Tim Holtz distress ink in walnut along with some other ranger products to make the batter on the two spoons.  I love how Doodlebug can be cute or you can make it cozy by using some stickles and distress ink.  Enjoy!

Decor 4 - paper pumpkin

I saw a similar design in a craft mag (don't remember which one) and I thought it was cute.  I cut 1 inch strips after making my own double sided paper, punched a hole on each end.  I took a large brad, connected both ends and spreaded it out.  The example I saw had the middle stuffed but I thought this one looked better empty.  At least at this point.  I'm sure once I add it to my fall table I will do something with that middle.

Doodlebug design team tryouts - scrapbook layouts

Now that I've shared a ton of cards I have three layouts that I created (to pick just one but hey I got more pages for my book done so I'll take it!)  My final submission was layout 1.

layout 1 - cow licked
The title alone cracks me up.  I used the barnyard collection from Doodlebug and when I got this line I was like wow what am I gonna do with this but these two layouts came out great - I love them so I'm excited to share them.  We went to our local farm - South mountain creamery in Frederick, MD.  They open their farm to the public I think twice a year and in April we went to go see the baby cows because my 2 1/2 year old son loves cows.  He wants to be one for Halloween - those pictures are going to awesome if I can stop laughing.
Layout 2 - hey there chicky
After getting to feed the baby cows, laughing at the baby pigs and asking if he could have a bunny we went to see the chicks.  As he was looking into the incubator a chick popped out of his shell.  Holden thought that was just the coolest thing.

Layout 3 - Happy 2nd Birthday
I wanted to have another layout that was not barnyard so I tossed this one together at the last minute.  I used the surprise party birthday celebration line for the boys.  There is a pink one for the girls that is just as awesome but since Zoe isn't even 1 I haven't pulled it out to play with yet.  (to get the balloon strings I drew them in as dashes but ribbon would be cool too)

Sparks challenge - card 3

I just loved these little peaches and had to use "peaches to meet you" because it just cracks me up. I struggled with this card and didn't really like it as a whole at first but now that I look at it again I'm a little more proud of it than I was last night. Sometimes I just have to walk away to either be proud or rip it apart and start over which is what I did with card 2.

I ordered two more sets from Kim @ www.papersmoochesstamps.com and I can't wait to get them. I have the best ideas for a fall card and a Halloween card. I will share as soon as I get them out of my head and on to paper :)

Sparks challenge - card 2

Last night I managed to make two more cards for the sparks challenge that Paper smooches (http://www.papersmoochesstamps/) is nice enough to sponsor.  Here is the second card - and honestly I feel a bit rusty.  I learned this ruffle technique when I went to GASC (Great American Scrapbook Convention) and so far I've showed restraint but could over use it (if that’s at all possible) since it's just too fun and cute!  Thank you Melissa Frances :)

Sparks challenge - card 1

Good evening everyone, if you love cute cards or cute stamps or cute stamps on cute cards the scoot on over to one of my favorite blogs http://www.papersmooches.blogspot.com/ and check out Ms. Kim stamps along with her Sparks challenge. I have been madly creating in between my full time job and my two kids to try to submit at least two this time around. Here is my first attempt at this month’s challenge... The supplies I used were...

1. Bazzill white card stock for the card, sentiment, and veggies

2. Tim Holtz core paper (a must have because it rocks but then again so does Tim).  I used it for the two backgrounds as well as the crate - which i hand made.

3. Vegtastic stamp set from Paper Smooches

4. Chunky black brad from doodlebug (another uber fave)

Enjoy!

Welcome

Hello everyone!  Please bear with me while I set up my new blog.  The intent is to share with you my paper crafts, events (some local and some too awesome to miss), and events and recipes for those who host crops at their home.  I also would like to make a section of other blogs that are a must to follow.

I will be uploading some of my completed projects in the next few days.  Some are when I first started (and make me cringe even though the standard rule is to NOT redo them so I do my best to resist the urge) to my current work.

I hope you enjoy my page.  Please feel free to share your work.  I love the art community mentality and love to see/share work from all.
